In 2006, Bogazici University, Department of Western Languages and Literatures took the initiative by organising the 1st International IDEA Conference in cooperation with the English Language and Literature Research Association of Turkey (IDEA). The following year, the 2nd International IDEA Conference was successfully hosted by Hacettepe University, Faculty of Letters, Department of English Language and Literature. The 3rd International Idea Conference was in Ege University on 16-18 April 2008. The next venue for the forthcoming conference will be Manisa. Celal Bayar University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of English Language and Literature will be hosting the 4th International IDEA Conference on 15-17 April 2009. The Conference will cover the following four main areas of studies in English:

Language and Linguistics
Translation Studies
Cultural Studies
